It is a testament to the genius of Chuck Jones that he can make even Wagner interesting. While it’s no Anna Russell, What’s Opera, Doc turns 50 this week and is as funny as ever.
For good measure, here’s The Rabbit of Seville

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair or fucking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man...and give some back.--Al Sweringen

Oh, Bwoon-hilda, you’re so wuv-wee!
Yes, I know it; I can’t help it …
I can’t believe it’s fifty; it’s still crap-yo-pants hilarious!!
Okay, but here’s my question: what was Bugs’s plan, really? I mean, if that costume piece hadn’t fallen off of his head at that very moment, what was he going to do? I think he’s secretly in love with Mr. Fudd and was hoping for a peek at little Elmer, if ya know whut ah’m sayin’ …
Seriously — this is the gayest cartoon.
(Not that there’s anything wrong with that.)
I’m not sure he had a plan, really. I prefer to view Bugs as a jazz savant, noodling along the general trail of the melody, but loose enough to scat bop away into a lengthy improvisation when one presents itself. As for the sexual motivation lurking behind Bugs and his numerous cross-dressing episodes…DUDE, THAT’S MY CHILDHOOD THAT YOU’RE SEXUALIZING! KNOCK IT OFF!!!!!
And clearly Bugs is a pushy bottom.
Sad to say, my only classical music education is from Looney Tunes. Damn public schools.
