Stateline.org has complied their 2007 survey of governor’s salaries across the nation. There’s even a bar graph, so we know it has to be both true and important.
Missouri’s boy governor, Matt Blunt, apparently makes $120,087. Not bad for a man who axed around 10,000 people from Medicaid, many of them children and the elderly, was implicated in a scandal almost the second he took office cut the state’s First Steps program (which was later instated) and, after his first year in office, had the fifth lowest governor approval rating in the nation at 33%. Sure, it’s below the national average of $124,398, but frankly, he’s doing good not to be flipping fries at McDonald’s at this point.
He can also take some comfort in knowing that he makes $14,198 more as a first-term governor than two-term Kansas governor, Kathleen Sebelius, who only takes home a modest $105,889.

I’ll trade you two Blagojeviches for one Blunt.
Ha! That comment works on several levels.
How irksome, though, that instead of being able to proudly defend our elected officials for state government, we can honestly joke about getting rid of them.
