The Reverend Jerry Falwell has died at age 73.
As with all people, I pray that God will watch over his soul and bring comfort to his family and friends.
That is all I will say about the man at this time.
I take that back. I will repeat a quote I found on MetaFilter: Well, wherever he is now, I bet he’s surprised.
That sums it up nicely. As opposed to Wonkette, who are summing it up with a lot of hostility.

Your response is better than most.
Some of the comments both at Wonkette and Metafilter have been truly, well, shameful. Once again, people justify their own bad behavior by the actions of another, ironically the same actions that they judge that person on.
A little generalized respect costs nothing at a time like this.
