What I’m reading…or rereading…or refusing to admit I’m reading but am secretly devouring.

Thai Food and Ayn Rand

What do these two seemingly separate things have in common?  They both repeat on me.

Just in this last week alone:

1)  I was informed that Jon Galt (different spelling, but still) is the name of a homosexual porn star.   Well, I certainly hope that he can keep the trains running into and out of tunnels on time.  Potentially NSFW link there, but really, you should know that.

2)  A friend at work let me know that her three favorite authors were Jane Austin (specifically Pride and Prejudice), Charles Dickens (specificaly A Tale Of Two Cities) and Ayn Rand (specifically Atlas Shrugged), at which point my head exploded a little bit.  For the record, brains do not come out of keyboards.

3)  A guy I was chatting with online at the Bear411 (DON’T YOU DARE GODDAMN JUDGE ME) cut me off cold when I was less than complimentary about Rand’s prose and how I found it amusing that someone so dedicated to celebrating those capable of perfection was herself such an AWFUL writer.  I tend to offend people a lot and that limits the usefullness of online meeting sites such as Bear411, Match.com, Yahoo Personals and Chemistry.com (DON’T YOU DARE…oh, who am I kidding, I’M judging me after that so go right ahead).

Perhaps I had to stretch a bit for that last one, but it’s still 2.5 things  and I’m not one to ignore a message from the universe.  So, I braved the boxes in my basement that never got unpacked after the move and, after slaying some spiders bigger than they have any right to be in a country that’s not Australia, I hauled out my copy of Atlas Shrugged and have started to reread it.

Yeah…

Awfulablium Authertorium!

I love Thomas Hardy, so this should come as a surprise to no one.

To boldy go where Botticelli, actually, has gone before.

God, I LOVE Ann Coulter
